- Quaker Meeting House
Join Sheffield for Democracy at SADACCA (48 The Wicker, Sheffield, S3 8JB) for this workshop on Making Your Vote Count.
Perhaps you voted wanting radical change to the status quo. Maybe
you didn’t vote at all, believing your vote doesn’t make a difference…
This session will discuss why turnouts at local elections are very low in many parts of Sheffield; why groups such as black and young people do not exercise their democratic right to vote. The workshop will set out to address what can be done to increase participation in local democratic processes across an unequal city, and to broaden the ‘ownership’ of the
city’s response to climate change.
Examples: Involving young people; using votes to challenge climate crisis; the best voting system.
This workshop will involve the sharing of experiences, to shape possible future actions.
